Phyllis Ross, RN, founded Samaritan Services in 1996 and still leads it today as Director of Nursing and CEO. Thirty years later, the standard is unchanged: the kind of care she would want a nurse to give her own family.

Where we began
At our inception in 1996, we provided nursing services to Englewood Hospital Medical Center in Englewood, New Jersey, and Holy Name Hospital Medical Center in Teaneck, New Jersey. As hospital nursing requests waned, the need for private duty and home care rose considerably, and we grew with it. Leveraging decades of clinical and administrative experience, we built a team of skilled healthcare practitioners able to deliver care across every setting we serve: sub-acute facilities, adult daycare centers, and the home.
Through all of those years, the record has stayed clean. We have never been brought before a regulatory board, our license has never been suspended, and we consistently receive positive reviews from our clients. That is the standard a family can count on before the first phone call.

Quality, measured as care is delivered.
Our quality care department continuously monitors care as it is being delivered. The quality improvement program is evaluated monthly against performance goals, with quarterly reviews of personnel records, client satisfaction surveys, and evaluations. Immediate action is taken in any area that needs enhancement, with confirmation that the action worked.
For the safety of patients and nurses alike, our entire staff is immunized against current influenza strains, and our credentialing files stay current so our partners never have to chase paperwork.

Licensed in both states
New Jersey license HP0068300. In New York we hold two separate licenses, because home care and facility staffing are regulated separately: a New York State Department of Health license (2251L001) covering home care services, and a New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection license (1179496) covering nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech services in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living, and adult day care settings. All three appear on every page of this site.
